Rev. Venerable Godfrey Stone, chairman of Friends of the Church in China (FCC) from England, met with Rev. Shen Xuebin, residential vice president of the China Christian Council (CCC), talking about social services and pastoral care for the elderly.
On August 25th, Rev. Shen first reviewed the history of friendly exchanges between the two sides, thanking FCC for its support of China's church social services, especially the encouragement and assistance provided during the COVID-19 pandemic, reported CCC&TSPM.
Rev. Godfrey Stone emphasized that the FCC valued long-term cooperation with the Church in China. They conveyed greetings from the Archbishop of Canterbury of the Church of England on this visit. As next year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of FCC, they sincerely look forward to a visit from CCC&TSPM to the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, staff members from the Social Services Department of CCC&TSPM shared information about their work. The two parts had discussions on diverse social service projects, including AIDS prevention training and elderly pastoral care.
In the coming month, the FCC delegation will visit several cities and churches in China to deepen their understanding of a variety of ministries of the Church in China.
