As the only representative of Chinese foundations, the Amity Foundation attended the launching ceremony of the "Philanthropy for Sustainable Development in China" report held in Geneva, Switzerland on October 13, 2017.
The report, jointly conducted by the UN Development Program (UNDP) China and the China Foundation Center (CFC), interpreted the data analysis of real-time platforms, developed an innovative systems of taxonomy, and put forward suggestions on promoting the deeper integration of philanthropy and the 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the next move.
Xie Ying, executive director of Amity's international liaison office in Geneva, talked about the organization's efforts in the achievement of SDGs. Xie said that NGOs needed to identify and use additional values of SDGs. She said that the adoption of SDGs as a working framework for NGOs guaranteed the work direction, helpful to NGOs integrating into international agendas. However, the goal put high expectation and pressure on every participant.
She proposed creating a sustainable and inclusive society that embraces and encourages the involvement of diversified communities and their collaboration to maximize synergy.
TheUN Development Program (UNDP) China director Agi Veres and CFC director Tao Ze co-launched an SDG philanthropy international platform and the English report.
The participants also included representatives from the government of Shandong, the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisor, the World Economic Forum, and the Shell Foundation.
