The National Council of YWCAs of China selected representatives to attend the social service seminar in Hong Kong.
According to the National Council of YMCAs & YWCAs of China, from March 26 to 29, at the invitation of the Hong Kong YWCA (HKYWCA), representatives chosen by the National Council of YMCAs & YWCAs of China attended a social service seminar and carried out a field visit in Hong Kong.
Dr. Wu Jianrong, the present leader and former general secretary of the National Council of YMCAs & YWCAs of China, urged the participants to strengthen exchanges between the two YWCAs and foster long-term cooperation.
Upon their arrival in Hong Kong, delegates of the national YWCA first visited the Hong Kong Legislative Council Complex. Hon. Kenneth Leung Yuk-wai, chairman of the Hong Kong United Youth Association, briefed on the functions of the Legislative Council and addressed questions about Hong Kong youth raised by the visiting group.
Representatives from both YWCAs attended the conference to discuss similar difficulties, possibilities, and challenges, service features, government cooperation, and resource integration, while also conveying the service philosophy of the national YWCA. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the forward-looking and targeted services provided for the elderly, youth, and women in Hong Kong during this face-to-face discussion, gaining insights into the work skills of social workers and practical experiences from the HKYWCA, which they noticed as a weakness in the Mainland YWCA. Representatives of the association shared that in recent years, the national association has initiated the "Y Creation" project to unite YWCAs in various cities to establish brands and expand social influence. Both parties exchanged their endeavors to serve society, aiming to promote mutual integration and professional advancement.
In addition, the host arranged for representatives to visit dozens of diversified social service centers run by the HKYWCA. Ms. Lee Shuk Ying, Helen, president of the HKYWCA, along with Ms. Yvonne Yeung, chief executive of the HKYWCA, and leaders from key departments, participated in the entire field visit. They provided an overview of the organizational structure, management and operation model, project execution, resource mobilization, and other aspects of the association, expressing their desire for further exchange and cooperation with the association on the mainland.
