From July 24 to 25, Wuqi County in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province, experienced its heaviest rainfall of the year, triggering flash floods and impacting numerous townships.
According to China News Service, rainfall in the county reached 102.5 millimeters between the evening of July 24 and the early morning of July 25. By 10:30 a.m. on the 25th, the peak flow rate in the main channel of the Luo River had risen to 4,480 cubic meters per second. A total of 34,622 residents were urgently evacuated, while roads, power lines, communication networks, and agricultural infrastructure sustained severe damage.
The Shaanxi Provincial CC&TSPM reported that Rev. Li Lulin, head of the Wuqi County Church, led two teams of co-workers into the hardest-hit villages to carry out flood relief efforts. They distributed relief goods and necessary foods to affected residents and provided financial assistance to families suffering the greatest losses. In total, the aid amounted to more than 8,000 yuan.
The Christian community in Wuqi County will continue to support post-disaster recovery efforts and provide ongoing assistance to those in need.
