An editorial committee for hymns has been founded after a symposium held by Zhejiang CCC&TSPM on June 23, and plans to compile, print and publish two hymnals suitable for the church's use in the province.
All the attendees cited that the editions of the hymns currently in use are disarranged and the theology lying behind their lyrics ranges in levels, according to the provincial CCC&TSPM.
Consequently, it's urgent to publish a hymnal that complies with healthy theology in an elegant style along with the sacred music, historical traditions and the Chinese church characteristic. The hymn book is also supposed to contain biblical truth and strengthen spiritual life with contemporary and Chinese ethnic themes.
An all-round discussion on the nature, target, music style, time, scope, biblical and theological direction of the hymns was also conducted.
The two hymnals consist of a collection of hymns for local choirs and a hymn book covering over 600 hymns with details such as the stave, numbered musical notation and additional short hymns for fellowships.
The provincial CCC&TSPM invites Chinese believers to take part in this project and called for prayer coupled with donation. Participation in the creation of new works and recommending songs are welcome.
