In East China, two churches baptized 63 new members on the first and third Sundays of August.

On August 17, Gospel Church on Daxi Road in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, held a baptism ceremony for 28 believers after they had completed a month-long catechism course and affirmed their profession of faith.

The hosting church reported that Teacher Dong Xinlin delivered a message titled "Becoming a New Creation." He explained the principles of becoming a new creation, highlighting the need to cultivate a renewed heart through reverent thoughts; speak new words by replacing judgment and complaints with grace; sing new songs of gratitude for God's mercy; perform new deeds that reflect love in faith; wear new clothes that demonstrate Christlike character; and walk a new path guided by truth, ultimately embodying the glory of Christ.

Earlier, on August 3, Sicheng Church in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, conducted its annual baptismal service, during which 35 members were baptized. The service coincided with the church's monthly Holy Communion Day. The baptism was held in two sessions: sprinkling during the morning service and immersion at 1:00 p.m.

Senior Pastor Rev. Huang Mingke preached "Rethinking the Meaning of the Holy Communion." Referencing 1 Corinthians 11:23-24, he addressed three key points: the tradition of the communion, its spiritual significance, and the proper manner of partaking. Pastor Huang emphasized that baptism and the Holy Communion are two sacraments in Protestant Christianity, both instituted and personally commanded by Jesus, serving as a means by which "invisible grace is received through visible ritual." He encouraged participants to approach the sacraments with reflection, discernment, and anticipation, observing them in order and reverence.

Following the sermon, the sprinkling service commenced, with 22 members receiving baptism. They then joined the congregation for their first communion. The immersion service at 1 p.m. saw two men and 11 women baptized, mostly younger believers, followed by another communion.
