On the afternoon of Nov. 22, 2016, a delegation of executive committee of World Council of Churches (WCC) visited the Nanjing-based Amity Priniting Company, the world's biggest Bible factory.
President Qiu Zhonghui, also the secretary of Amity Foundation, welcomed them and said, "The mission arrives shortly after the celebration day of Amity Printing's 30th Founding Anniversary and the production of 150 million copies of Bible. Three decades ago, we could hardly imagine that the Amity Printing would develop into the world's largest Bible printing base. These achievements are impossible without the supports from the Chinese government and CCC & TSPM, as well as endorsement and help from WCC and all the member churches."
The both sides held discussions on the translation and publication of the Bible versions for ethnic minorities, cross-religion dialogues, the international influence and sustainable development of Amity and the relations between printing and online reading.
Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of WCC, thanked for Amity's warm reception and introduction, expressing the desire to keep the close and friendly cooperation with Amity. Qiu presented the commemorative edition of the Bible to the team as gifts.
After the symposium, the mission visited the production line of the Bible printing, production process, equipments and high shelves where the finished product are placed. In the evening, they visited the staff dormitories and the canteen.
