Fujian Theological Seminary held its orientation for the new year in its chapel on September 2, 2017. More than 400 people, including officials, attended.
Rev. Chen Lifu, chairman of the seminary's board and president of the Fujian CCC, gave a sermon entitled "To Know Whom I Believe and Commit To", exhorting students to be aware of their calling, equip themselves, and influence other people in life.
A senior official from the United Front Work Department of Fujian Province stated that the Communist Party and the government released policies beneficial to religious undertakings and religious schools they were concerned about. The seminary should encourage Christianity to adapt to the socialist society, enhance education quality, and lead Christians to have a correct faith and positive actions, the official said.
Rev. Yue Qinghua, the seminary's president and chairman of the Fujian TSPM, welcomed freshmen and urged the students to put the school's motto into practice and study with humility.
Founded by the Fujian CCC & TSPM in 1983, the college was the first provincial seminary established on the Chinese mainland since the Cultural Revolution.
The ceremony ended with Rev. Yue's benediction.
