On September 15, 2019, Shenzhen Shatoujiao Church held the second training program for group leaders.
According to the church, the church's senior pastor Rev. Qiu Quan presided over the ceremony. The main topics covered were the importance of the church's transformation into pastoring in groups and an analysis of the church's present situation - a valuable transformation of the Shenzhen Xiangmihu Church.
A total of 25 group leaders and candidates responded that they would carry out the pastoring ministry in small groups to reach the goal that every member would receive care and be nurtured while caring for and pastoring others.
According to the records of the Chung-Ying Street Historical Museum, Christianity came to Shatoujiao as early as the mid-19th century through Rudolf Lechler and Philip Winnes, missionaries from the Basel Mission Society of Switzerland. Other missionaries subsequently came from churches in Hong Kong to preach and convert the inhabitants and set up gathering sites in factories and houses.
After 2000, Christians in Shatoujiao started to gather on their own, and gradually formed three family meeting venues in accordance with the three languages spoken: Mandarin, Chaoshan and Hakka dialects. There was no communication between these three groups.
In 2004, the Shenzhen Christian Council & Municipal Three-Self Association (CC&MTSA) started give attention to the registration of the Shatoujiao Church. On June 28, 2006, the church rented a space on the fourth floor of a building in an industrial zone in Yantian District. On June 8, 2007, government permission was given for Christians to use the space. On September 29, 2007, the Shatoujiao Protestant Church was officially established.
Its social involvements include visiting seniors in nursing homes, taking care of children with disabilities, helping people in poverty, providing disaster relief, comforting and compensating orphans and widows, and planting trees.
