In China’s costal-northeastern Fujian Province, a church announced that it would adjust its Sunday services due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
New District Church in Xiamen announced that the number of churchgoers would be reduced by half from January 14, following the advice of Zhang Yigon, head of Xiamen United Front Work Department. In order to avoid being unable to gather due to overcrowding, the congregation who originally attended the second service are suggested to attend the first or third one.
The announcement also said that the believers who recently returned from other provinces should read the Bible and pray at home and attend online services, in order to protect the health of congregation members.
In addition, the believers are advised to keep their children at home on Sunday, as the childcare class in the church was closed in order to protect the health and safety of the children.
The church leaders urged the believers to pray and abide by the adjustment they made in accordance with the requirement of government, as the cold wave and the Spring Festival will bring great challenges to the pandemic prevention and control.
