Churches in China’s southeastern coastal Zhejiang Province participated in anti-epidemic volunteer activities with donations amid the second wave of COVID-19.
Besides the volunteer efforts of the local officials and healthcare workers, Rev. Xu Yaojin, chairman of Yiwu CC&TSPM, advised believers to stay at home with the collection of information from people to reflect their demands. Pastor Huo Pengfei from New Grace Church participated in nucleic acid sampling, while members of Tonghui Church joined in the distribution of materials and assisted with nucleic acid testing, Yiwu CC&TSPM said.
Responding to the donation initiative of Yiwu CC&TSPM on August 16, Suxi Church donated three times to staff on duty in Suxi Town and Xishanxia Expressway bayonet fruit and food totaling 12,000 yuan, with Gracious (Ci’en in Chinese) Church sending self-heating rice and mineral water to community workers.
There were no new positive cases in Yiwu from 9 pm on August 20 to 9 am the next day. Since the latest outbreak occurred on August 2, the city which is famous for the world’s largest small commodities market has reported 91 confirmed cases and 619 asymptomatic COVID-19 cases, said Yiwu Command Center for COVID-19 control and prevention.
