Sichuan Provincial CC&TSPM welcomed Rev. Park Pong Soo, the chief secretary (secretary-general) of the Korea-China Christian Exchange Association, who represents the Sangdo Central Church in Seoul, South Korea.
Shanxi CC&TSPM once reported that Rev. Park Pong Soo and his delegation visited its station and Shanxi Bible School on June 5 this year.
Rev. Park Pong Soo and a delegation of four from the Sangdo Central Church visited Sichuan CC&TSPM from September 11 to 13, said CCC&TSPM.
During their meeting, Rev. Zhang Xiansheng, chairman of the Sichuan Christian Council, conveyed his appreciation for the church’s respect for the “three-self” principle (self-preaching, self-governing, and self-supporting) as well as the sinicization of Christianity carried out among the churches in China. He also showed his respect for their endeavors to foster friendship among the fellowships in China and South Korea. Pastor Zhang also presented the achievements of the provincial CC&TSPM in recent years in strengthening self-construction as well as adhering to laws and regulations and strict governance of churches.
Rev. Zhang Jian, vice president and vice chairman of the Sichuan CC&TSPM, addressed pastoral staff’s and believers’ participation and donations in epidemic prevention and control programs during the pandemic period. Zhang also expressed his gratitude for the support Pastor Park gave to the churches in Sichuan.
In response, Rev. Park shared insights into the development situation of churches in Korea, along with the challenges and difficulties they faced during and after the pandemic. He agreed that sticking to sinicization in the Sichuan Christian community was the right path, which boosted churches' integration with Chinese society and culture and enabled them to serve the public better.
Following these discussions, the delegation proceeded with their visit to Sichuan Theological Seminary, exchanging views with both student and faculty representatives. Subsequently, they also visited the Sanxingdui archaeological site, gaining context and understanding of the origins and history of Chinese civilization.
