A centennial church recently held a dedication ceremony and service for its new building.
According to Shanghai Municipal CC&TSPM, Qingpu District CC&TSPM hosted a dedication service for Song'en Church in Zhujiajiao Town on October 6th.
Rev. Geng Weizhong, president of Shanghai CC, preached a sermon titled “Built in Love," citing Ephesians 4:15–16. Taking the construction of the visible church as an example, he addressed the importance of being united in love in establishing their personal faith, forming the invisible church, and living as a positive witness in society. Following the sermon, the united choir in Qingpu District performed hymns like "How Awesome You Are."
Originally established in 1909 and named Zhuxi Church, the current Song’en Church was relocated and reconstructed in 2010 in accordance with the unified development plan of Zhujiajiao Town. With a land area of 2,933 square meters (0.72 acres) and a building area of 1,896 square meters (0.47 acres), the church can accommodate approximately 1,500 believers in service. It was put into trial use on January 12, 2020.
As the exterior wall is decorated with blue ceramic tiles, the new building consisted of a main building and an annex. The main building is a two-story structure, with the upper level serving as the sanctuary, which can accommodate more than 800 believers. The lower level functions as a multi-purpose hall, equipped with a theater-style stage, serving both worship and large events, with a capacity of over 600 people. The annex belongs to an administrative area, including training rooms, activity rooms, and a reception area.
