A church in China’s coastal-eastern Jiangsu Province conducted a summary event for the three-year program featuring practicing spirituality with pastors and an award ceremony for the Bible contest.
On November 25, there were about 130 congregants participating in the event at Apostle Church in Suzhou, reported Suzhou CC&TSPM.
Rev. Chen Meng preached a themed sermon to encourage the attending believers to study God’s words eagerly. Subsequently, Rev. Rui Tingting invited team leaders and teammate representatives to share their gainings after reviewing the development of the three-year “Spiritual Practice with Pastors” ministry. Pastor Huang awarded prizes to the winners of the scripture competition and the well-performed believers in the three-year ministry.
It has been a featured pastoral ministry of the church since 2020. In the past three years, the pastor has invited believers to practice spirituality together every day, which has gained the love and recognition of believers.
Located at No. 130 Yangyu Lane, Suzhou City, the Apostle Church was founded in 1872 and was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou in 1991. As one of the earliest churches in the history of Suzhou, the Apostle Church was originally named Sidu Church, which commemorates the founders of the church, the missionary Hampden Coit DuBose and his wife from the Presbyterian Church in the United States. It was renovated in 1910, and the new church was completed in 1925. The church spans a construction area of 1,330 square meters (0.329 acre) with a floor area of 1,016 square meters (0.25 acres). The chapel is a brick and wood structure with two floors and can accommodate 500 people.
