A church in Shanghai invited the third-generation clay sculpture inheritor to create a clay stop-motion animation demonstrating entrance guidelines, which was displayed during a Christmas Eve celebration.
For the natural materials, innovative craftsmanship, and exquisite designs of clay sculpture that leave viewers amazed, Huxi Church invited Ms. Zhang Shujia to create the animation for the church, said the church.
During the launch event on December 24, Ms. Zhang, a Christian herself, expressed her privilege in designing and producing the animation, describing it as a fusion of China's traditional culture and social life.
Rev. Cen Zhongpu, director of the Longhua District Christian Council and the Three-Self Patriotic Movement, suggested that more aspects of church life could be portrayed using traditional Chinese cultural elements such as clay sculpture, a Chinese intangible cultural heritage.
