Shanghai Municipal CC&TSPM visited the former residence of Mr. Wu Yao-tsung, a late Chinese Protestant leader.

According to the YMCA & YWCA, Shanghai CC&TSPM organized an onsite study with over 50 participants at Y. T. Wu's former residence on February 27.

The National Council of YMCAs of China and the National Council of YWCAs of China greeted the class and shared stories regarding Mr. Wu and the YMCA.

Mr. Wu was a major contributor to the YMCA movement in China and the main initiator and leader of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement in China. After witnessing the social education services provided by the YMCA, he felt motivated to join the YMCA movement, giving up his high salary back then.

Wu organized and participated in the YMCA's aid for wounded soldiers and refugees, expressing friendship and peace to the world by incorporating the concept of "God is love" into the movement.

Since the 130th anniversary of Y. T. Wu's birth in November 2023, the YMCA and YWCA have held a thematic exhibition titled "Mr. Y. T. Wu and YMCA" at his former residence.
