A psychological counseling fellowship of a Beijing megachurch underwent a summary for its practical group.
Haidian Church's Psychological Counseling Fellowship experimented its first growth group from January 13 to March 16, according to the fellowship. In eight activities themed "Bearing Fruit: Life Transformation" online and in person, attendees accompanied each other and communicated emotions through book reading, sharing, and one-on-one guidance.
To begin the first activity on January 13, participants chose representative pictures for self-introductions, with most of them unfamiliar with each other.
Twelve members were engaged in activities every Saturday, aged between 30 and 70 years old, from different sectors. They explored challenges and confusions in study, professional life, relationships, and parenting from diverse viewpoints.
After three months of practicing and exercising, one student said, "A daughter talked about the hurtful words from her mother, and as a mother, I understand the feelings and needs of children."
"Through reading books and sharing experiences, we come to know God and ourselves in multiple dimensions," another student shared.
"I realize that I am the one who needs to be repaired and pruned when I step out of my perspective and see myself through others’ eyes. The process is painful, but stress and difficulties are good to me," another comment said.
During the group's review and summary, seven students formed a mutual assistance group, with a teacher providing support once a month.
Haidian Church was originally a preaching station affiliated with the Congregational Church, beginning with a large chapel that was built in 1933. Back then, there were about 500 believers. The new building was inaugurated on May 31, 2007, with a dedication ceremony. Every Sunday, four services are held in this 4,000-square-meter (0.99-acre) constructed-area building.
