The first plenary meeting of the Social Service Department (SSD) of CCC&TSPM was hosted at Northeast Theological Seminary in Liaoning Province after new leadership of CCC&TSPM was elected on December 21, 2023.

The meeting took place from April 18 to 20, conveying the responsibilities of SSD set by CCC&TSPM. Attendees discussed and approved the division of labor among members of SSD, deliberating on the "2024 Work Focus Points of SSD of CCC&TSPM."

They believed that SSD should address social needs, focus on key areas to plan projects, and "contribute to China's economic and social development, rural revitalization, and the great revival of the Chinese nation through a Chinese path to modernization."

In his speech, President Wu Wei of the China Christian Council (CCC) stated that the SSP should practice Christian faith through social service within the scope of relevant laws and regulations and promote Christianity in the Chinese context in a deep and detailed way. He emphasized the need to enhance the ability and awareness of Christians to serve society and to promote the spread of modern public welfare concepts and values in churches across the country.
