Christian institutions held activities to help the disabled and the sick on May 19, the 34th National Day of Persons with Disabilities.
According to the Amity Foundation, in order to help more mentally disabled people find jobs, Amity joined hands with Eleme, an online takeaway ordering platform, to launch the first batch of charity training for mentally disabled takeaway packers in Hangzhou. On May 17, the inaugural course of this training was held in a Hangzhou noodle restaurant with seven mentally disabled student participants. During the two-hour training, the students learned how to distinguish different lunch boxes, avoid soup spilling, and stick food safety seals.
Yunnan Trinity Church held a special worship on May 19 to encourage believers to care for, understand, and respect the disabled, and to pray for and contribute to them. In the special worship, believers and co-workers of the Angel Fellowship and the Deaf Fellowship presented choruses, dances, short plays, poetry readings, and sign-language poems.
Shanghai Community Church held a charity sale after the Sunday service. The sold items were customized exquisite gifts, including short-sleeve clothes, towels, refrigerator stickers, picture books, and flowers, with some items incorporating faith design elements. One believer said, "I can't even squeeze in, and no towel was left when I was finally in." All the proceeds from the charity sale will be used to support a basketball program to help autistic children, which is sponsored by the Shanghai Agape Foundation.
According to the CC&TSPM of Gutian City, Ningde City, Fujian Province, they took visits to 16 poor and sick families (including two non-believers) in three churches and donated more than RMB 6,000. Since 2022, the CC&TSPM of Gutian City has set up the "CC&TSPM Nissi ministry group" to preach in the countryside with music. Statistics show they have donated money and materials worth more than RMB 100,000 over the past two years.
