Since March, Xinyu Municipal CC&TSPM in Jiangxi has been conducting training classes for the traditional Chinese instrument, the erhu, which is melodious and resembles the human voice as a representative of traditional Chinese bowed string instruments.
The course, taught by Guo Xitao, is tailored to students with diverse levels of proficiency in the instrument, said Yushui District CC&TSPM. Guo designed the curriculum and taught with patience, enabling students to understand the instrument's structure and performance characteristics and to grasp basic playing methods and techniques in a short period. In the actual teaching process, Guo employs a teaching model that combines large and small groups. After several months of learning, students have gained a preliminary understanding of the erhu and can play simple tunes.
On July 28, these students performed two pieces during the Sunday worship at Yushui Church.
