A training class was opened for the staff of Yunnan CC&TSPM and Yunnan Theological Seminary to promote the sinicization of Christianity in Yunnan and to improve overall competence of pastoral workers.
It was attended by 50 participants from across the province, said CCC&TSPM. Rev. Deng Jianwei, president of the Yunnan Christian Council (CC) and Yunnan Theological Seminary, along with members of Yunnan CC&TSPM and all faculty and students of the seminary, attended the opening ceremony on October 13.
The class is led by two homeroom teachers, who are Rev. Hai Jinhua, general secretary of Yunnan CC, and Rev. Zhang Zailiang, vice president of the seminary.
The curriculum includes specialized Christian studies, as well as general courses which make up no less than 30% of the total coursework. Besides some ones regarding strengthening the sense of a shared Chinese national identity and promoting the localization of Christianity in China and traditional Chinese culture, courses involve religious policies and regulations, church regulations, Old and New Testament theologies, systematic theology, Biblical geography, homiletics, Christian history, and in-depth Bible studies.
