The lecture on “The ‘God’ and ‘Heaven’ in Ancient China” took place at Yunnan Christian Seminary, aiming to rebuild a sacred connection between the Bible and Chinese classical literature and promote mutual interpretation between the two.
Yunnan Christian Council invited Professor Li Guangliang from the School of Law and Sociology at Yunnan Normal University to give the specialized lecture in Kunming, on November 1, said CCC&TSPM.
Beginning with “Christian Faith in Chinese Culture,” professor Li provided an accessible analysis of how “God” and “Heaven” were recorded and interpreted in the Four Books and Five Classics.
Attendees expressed a desire to explore new ways for churches to adapt to a socialist society, fusing Chinese traditional culture while upholding basic beliefs, core doctrines, and rituals. This effort is seen as contributing to the localization of Christianity in Yunnan.
