On January 5, the first Sunday of the New Year, a communion and baptism service was conducted at Yongle Church in Anshan, Liaoning Province.
Originally established by the Woman's Missionary Society in the West Tower in Shenyang, Liaoning, the church is a Korean ethnic church that gathers both Korean and Han Chinese believers. At the start of the New Year, it encouraged its members to begin reading the Bible from Genesis. In addition, a 21-day prayer meeting was scheduled for January.
During the service, Rev. Pei Lianshu of the church, vice president of the Anshan Christian Council, led congregants in reading relevant passages from the Gospel of John and delivered a sermon. In her sharing, she mentioned that believers could get spiritual food when they ate the Lord Jesus in His word, which empowered people to live and face diverse challenges in life. The Lord Jesus has made humans free from the law of sin and death, and those who believe in God will be united with him in the death and resurrection like his.
After the sermon, walking up to the altar, nine seekers were baptized by Reverend Pei in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
