Beichen Church in Kunming, Yunnan Province, hosted a quilling art exhibition last Sunday as an effort to explore the integration of Chinese cultural traditions and the Christian faith.

Themed "Rooted in God’s Love, Shining Like Stars," the event aimed to promote the indigenization of Christianity in China, according to Beichen Church.

Since September 2024, the Bezalel Handicraft Class has held two sessions of the "Faith and Quilling Craft." Centered on biblical teachings, the course weaves faith into artistic creation. Quilling, a traditional paper art form, involves rolling, folding, and shaping strips of paper into intricate patterns and three-dimensional designs. Beyond being a decorative craft, it carries a unique artistic value and cultural depth.

The exhibition featured an array of student creations, ranging from faith-inspired artwork to ornaments infused with Chinese cultural elements. Participants shared that the course’s approach—drawing from Scripture and applying it to daily life—allowed them to experience the wisdom and strength of biblical truths in a tangible way.

The Bezalel Handicraft Class plans to explore more innovative ways to blend faith and artistry, "fostering personal growth and transformation through both craft and spiritual nourishment."
