In November and December 2025, Chinese Christians marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of "Bible Day," a milestone commemorating the central place of the Scriptures in faith and life. Churches across the country held a variety of events to deepen understanding of the Bible, foster spiritual growth, and encourage believers to live out God's word.
Since the early 1990s, the second Sunday of December, along with the preceding Saturday, has been designated by CCC&TSPM as Bible Day in Chinese churches. This year's Bible Day, mainly observed on December 14, featured the theme "Filming out the Bible." Churches across China marked the occasion with a variety of activities.
In Urumqi, local churches organized a series of "My Life with the Bible" sharing sessions, according to CCC&TSPM. Ergong Church encouraged daily Bible reading and scripture memorization plans; Zhujiang Road and Wuyi Road Churches shared pastoral experiences on practicing biblical truth; Anningqu Church held a thanksgiving session where church members shared their journey of reading and understanding the Bible; and Wulabo Church combined scripture recitation and personal storytelling to inspire love for the Word. These activities strengthened believers' engagement with Scripture and fostered spiritual growth within the church community.
On December 12, Yaodu Church in Linfen, Shanxi, hosted a thanksgiving service and related events, according to Linfen TSPM. The event featured scripture reading, recitation, testimony sharing, and exhibitions of nearly 100 Bible versions and hand-copied passages. Church leaders emphasized the importance of connecting biblical truth with Chinese culture and societal needs, highlighting how believers can live out their faith in contemporary China.
Some churches even celebrated the day ahead in November. On November 22, Dongsheng Meeting Point in Zhongshan, Guangdong, organized a Bible knowledge competition centered on the teachings and stories of the four Gospels, reported Zhongshan CC&TSPM. Over 40 participants formed 14 teams to compete, with awards presented for first, second, and third places. Rev. Huang Xiaodong emphasized that the event aimed to guide believers in integrating biblical teachings into daily life and personal faith practice.
In Shenzhen, Guangdong, Buji Church commemorated the anniversary under the theme "Grateful for 30 Years, Moving Faithfully Forward," according to the church. Participants engaged in calligraphy, painting, and scripture printing activities, creatively bringing Bible verses to life. Church leaders offered prayers and messages highlighting three decades of God's grace and the ongoing mission to live according to Scripture, inspiring believers to connect faith with daily life.
On November 9, Chengqu Church in Jincheng, Shanxi, held a "Bible Study and Spiritual Devotion" event, reported Jincheng CC&TSPM. Activities included scripture recitation games, devotional sharing, performances, and a session on recognizing false teachings. The church also displayed different Bible editions and believers' hand-copied scriptures, enriching understanding of the Bible and encouraging discernment and faithfulness. On November 2, the Daxing Evangelical Church in Beijing held a special Thanksgiving service, including Bible verse competitions and testimonies.
From south to north, churches across China celebrated the 30th anniversary of Bible Day through knowledge competitions, devotional sharing, artistic expression, and exhibitions.
