A Shandong church holds a reading club activity starting from April, in order to help its believers broaden their horizons in cultural and religious knowledge by providing a variety of high-quality books from society and churches.

In 1995, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared April 23 as "World Book Day". Shandong International Church hosts this activity with the purpose of helping the children of God enjoy reading and taste the sweetness of knowledge, no matter whether they are old or young, rich or poor, in sickness or in wealth.

With the launching ceremony held in this church on April 18, this reading club is a long-term activity that adopts the form of recommending books according to the cycle and reading under the guidance of teachers. It is conducted every Thursday evening from 19:00-20:30 in the newly renovated 103 room of the church. The first book, titled "The Power of a Whisper", led participants to listen to the small voice of God and enter a deeper life, according to Shandong CC&TSPM.
