In the Bible, there is a list of character qualities for which God has made provision and for which every Christian should strive. Below is seven of them.
1. "Faith": "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1) Faith is complete dependency on God and responding to God's word by obedience and actions.
2. "Love": "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (1 John 4:8) Christians should let others know Christianity is about love because God we worship is love. To love God and others as yourself are two commandments all the laws and prophets depend on. (Matthew 22: 37-40)
3. "Being religious and sincere": Christians should have a religious and sincere heart. "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." Actions and deeds are merely performances in vain without a sincere heart.
4. "Rejoicing": "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4) Don't set your mind on the world or covet the worldly things. You shall not be satisfied with greed then certainly no joy. Moreover, be grateful and count the grace from the Lord, you will rejoice.
5. "Perseverance": Jesus teaches us that "he who stands firm to the end will be saved."(Matthew 24:13) Paul says, "suffering produces perseverance" (Romans 5:3). James, the brother of Jesus, also encourages believers that "consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." (James 1:2-3)
6. "Being poor in spirit": "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:3) Being poor in spirit is a character after practice, not human's nature but choice in your will. When Christians realize his hopelessness and no dependency in the world, he will humble himself to trust in God, the practice and performance of "being poor in spirit" that makes our lives more beautiful.
7. "Being of the same mind": "Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position." (Romans 12:16) The Bible mentions "one mind", "the one" and "the unity" a lot of times. We often compare "church" to "body": Christ is the head, church his body and believers members. From him the whole body, joined held together and members should help and love each other so that the body shall attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
