The Bible teaches us lessons and guides us in our decisions in life.
When it comes to adoption, it is considered as a beautiful reflection of the love of God.
According to the Bible, taking care of orphans is the true religion. The people who choose to adopt mostly experience a trying and stressful process, which make them lose their hope. The Bible brings encouragement and comfort during the adoption process and those people who complete the process of adoption.
Here are three Bible verses wherein adoption is discussed:
1. I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. (1 Samuel 1:27)
Bearing your own child is one of the best feelings a woman would love to experience in her life. However, there are women who cannot bear children. Despite this, they can still find comfort in having a child by adopting. Adopting a child is still considered a blessing just like bearing a child of your own.
2. "And, I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." ( 2 Corinthians 6:18)
This is not just about God telling us that He will be more than glad to be our parent. But, He is hoping we could mirror this attitude of acceptance towards people who are never of our own blood. This same goes when adopting. For parents, they need to make the children feel that they are ready to be a father or mother and they are welcome in the family.
3. "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing." (Deuteronomy 10: 18)
For those children who were adopted, they should never feel less. God reminds us that whoever we are, whatever we are and wherever we came from, He truly loves us and is willing to sacrifice His son for us.
