A delegation from the China Theological Education Workshop conducted a visit to Guizhou Bible School for research purposes.
On July 25, a group of 55 representatives, consisting of responsible personnel from provincial CC&TSPMs and 22 theological colleges, along with chief academic officers, undertook a research visit to Guizhou Bible School. The delegation also included Rev. Wu Wei, the president of the China Christian Council (CCC), Rev. Shan Weixiang, vice president and general secretary of CCC, and Rev. Lin Manhong, residential deputy general secretary of CCC, as reported by CCC&TSPM.
The primary objective of this research visit was to gain insights into the new initiatives implemented by the school in promoting the localization of Christianity in China and effectively adhering to the Administrative Measures for Religious Institutions. The delegation sought to understand the school's accomplishments, challenges, measures, and future plans concerning the training of talents for Christianity, faculty development, and infrastructure enhancement.
At the commencement of the symposium, the delegation was presented with a promotional video commemorating the 30th anniversary of the school. Subsequently, Rev. Yang Zhaoyun, president of the school, provided an overview of the institution's history, current status, prevailing challenges, and response strategies.
During the visit, five educators presented reports on the utilization and teaching of textbooks for different courses, including ideology and politics, practical theology, biblical theology, dogmatic theology, and historical theology. They also shared their teaching experiences and reflections. Furthermore, three student representatives from different academic years shared their personal experiences concerning their studies and campus life.
Currently, the school hosts nearly a hundred students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, including Han, Miao, Yi, Buyi, Bai, and Dong. Over the course of 27 cohorts, it has produced almost 700 theology graduates and provided training for over 10,000 pastoral care volunteers. The school offers a three-year theological secondary school program, a one-year pastoral training class, and several short-term training courses. The comprehensive curriculum encompasses 43 courses across three categories: professional courses, general courses, and distinctive courses, which encompass subjects such as Guizhou's local conditions and ethnic culture.
The school has been recognized as a "National Religious Advanced Group."
