The station of CCC&TSPM, Holy Trinity Cathedral in Shanghai, opens to the public again after renovation.
During the opening ceremony hosted on December 12 by Gu Mengfei, head of the church, Xu Xiaohong, chairman of the National Committee Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), delivered a speech, with the Director of the State Administration for Religious Affairs Cui Maohu addressing via video link, said CCC&TSPM.
In the worship service celebrating the reopening last Sunday, Rev. Wu Wei, president of China Christian Council (CCC), preached a sermon titled "Build the Body of Christ", citing Ephesians 2: 19-22 and 4: 2-7.
He stated, "From now on, the word of God will be preached in the church, where the sacraments will be performed according to the command of Jesus Christ. The children of the heavenly Father will worship God here with one mind.”
Built in 1847, the church and its affiliated office buildings were returned to CCC&TSPM to be its headquarters in 2004. Receiving the Religious Venue Registration Certificate on January 6 this year, it is now officially open to the public after 56 years of closure.
