New regulations are now going to be imposed in the religious affairs of Yunan according to the announcement done by the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Yunan Province on Wednesday.

According to Ma Kaineng, the vice president of the provincial religious authority, the implementation of the regulation would strengthen the region's implementation of religious affairs and manage it according to the law. The new law would also assist Yunnan in resolving problems regarding religions, ethnic groups, border conflicts and poverty given the province's multi-cultural nature and the presence of five influential religions.

The new regulation consists of 8 chapters or 33 articles, including the new rules on the managing authority that would take charge of the province's religious affairs such as duty divisions, clerical duties, reservation of venues for religious activities, religious education, and others. The regulations also include the standards for provincial religious management.

The regulation also claims that no organization or individual is allowed to illegally propagate any item for commerce in the name of religion or abuse the power to interfere in production or management, as well as conduct illegal activities as such.

The new regulations were approved on January 6, 2016 and expected to come into effect on July 1.
