Pandas are one of the common symbols connected to China and they are currently being bred to ensure that their population remains high.

On Monday, an extraordinary birth was recorded in panda breeding as a giant panda gave birth to two panda cubs in Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu city, Sichuan province. The panda, named Ya Li, gave birth to the first cub at 5:52 a.m. and the second followed 10 minutes later. The female cubs weighed 144 grams and 113 grams respectively.

The staff in the breeding center recalled that Ya Li showed signs of unease since the 22nd of May through her reduced appetite and later on, showed prenatal signs on Sunday.

Ya Li actually has a twin sister Wen Li, born in July 2009. She also has a younger brother and sister.
