China's top state news agency Xinhua makes a bold statement against Western democracy on Tuesday prior to the incoming Party Congress, stressing the different outlooks of Chinese and Western democracy with China's own system more harmonious and cooperative by comparison to the Western side.
In its English commentary, Xinhua talked about the "crises and chaos swamp(ing) Western liberal democracy."
It further adds: "Unlike competitive, confrontational Western politics, the CPC (Communist Party of China) and non-Communist parties cooperate with each other, working together for the advancement of socialism and striving to improve the people's standard of living. The relationship maintains political stability and social harmony and ensures efficient policy making and implementation."
Xinhua also said that China's political system permits social unity and does not promote divisions which are created similar to how Western democracy's nature is today.
The commentary also said "endless political backbiting, bickering and policy reversals, which make the hallmarks of liberal democracy, have retarded economic and social progress and ignored the interests of most citizens."
Xinhua did not directly identify countries in its commentary, but in previous articles, it criticized Britain's pending exit to the European Union and Donald Trump's ascension to the presidency.
The commentary also stressed that the Chinese-style democracy under Xi Jinping is in better shape and stressed "China has absolutely no need to import the failing party political systems of other countries. After several hundred years, the Western model is showing its age. It is high time for profound reflection on the ills of a doddering democracy which has precipitated so many of the world's ills and solved so few."
The commentary comes a day prior to the once-in-five-years Party Congress on Wednesday where it is said Xi Jinping will be cementing his position in the party and the party to identify its goals in the next couple of years.
