The year 2020 marks the 90th anniversary of the establishment of Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre, located on a hill in the village of Sha Tin in Hong Kong. Tao Fong Shan features a unique style of traditional Chinese architecture, an intentional design by the founder, Dr. Karl L Reichelt. As a Norwegian priest, Dr. Karl was famous for advocating dialogue between religions, especially Christianity and Chinese Buddhism.
Fifteen years ago, the Institute of Sino-Christian Studies (ISCS) was registered as a non-profit academic institute in Hong Kong, located in the area of the Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre. Its mission is to follow the aspirations of Dr. Karl L Reichelt, to promote the contextualization of Christian theology in Chinese culture and to further develop dialogue with other cultures and religions.
