On August 28, Wang Min, better known by his pseudonym Daozi, a Christian painter, poet, artist, and professor at the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, was admitted to the ICU in critical condition due to leukemia and urgently required AB-type blood. Concerned Christians issued an appeal calling on believers with compatible blood types to donate and to pray for him.

The appeal, posted on WeChat Moments, shared his worsening condition: "A few weeks ago, Christian teacher Daozi was hospitalized with leukemia. Today we received news that his condition has become critical. Due to a rapid increase in white blood cell count and falling blood pressure, he is now in the ICU. AB-type blood is urgently needed." It also outlined the targeted blood donation process and provided contact information for his wife, Ms. Feng Jiali.

Daozi, whose given name is Wang Min, is a renowned Christian artist, poet, and painter. He is a member of both the Chinese Aesthetics Association and the International Aesthetics Association and serves as a professor at Tsinghua University. Since 2000, he has pioneered what he calls "Saintism Ink-Wash Painting," blending his Christian faith with traditional Chinese ink painting to produce significant works. In 2015, his piece "God and Gold" received the 20th Misereor Foundation for Social Development. The work was reproduced on more than 3,000 large-scale canvases and displayed on over 3000 church altars across German-speaking countries and Europe during Pentecost.

Daozi has often stated that his art reflects his convictions and ideals. He maintains that the defining feature of his work is its innovative form of expression and narrative. He has emphasized repeatedly that "Saintism Ink-Wash Painting" is not religious art in the conventional sense, but spiritual art, expressing a pursuit of ultimate values and spiritual orientation.
