On June 30, religious groups from Guangdong gathered in Guangzhou for a symposium and donation ceremony aimed at supporting rural revitalization efforts.
Rev. Guo Yun, president of the Guangdong Christian Council (CC), made a donation of 450,000 yuan on behalf of the charity foundation of the Guangdong CC&TSPM.
During the event, Guo introduced the work carried out by the provincial CC&TSPM in recent years, such as establishing service volunteer teams in local grassroots churches, according to the Guangdong CC&TSPM. In 2022, they also held a conference on the social service work of churches to share experiences and models of social services and explore ways to localize Christianity in Guangdong. In collaboration with its charity foundation, the Guangdong CC&TSPM raised funds to support the "6.30" activities, the rural revitalization of the Lushui Lisu Autonomous County in Yunnan Province, and the consolidation of poverty alleviation achievements in Woshui town, Liannan Yao Autonomous County, Qingyuan, Guangdong. Additionally, they extended support to churches affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and offered assistance to pastoral staff in need, ensuring their social insurance contributions. Over the past five years, Guangdong CC&TSPM has also raised funds to provide treatment for children suffering from lithiasis, commonly known as "stone babies."
Looking ahead, Guangdong CC&TSPM plans to continue their support through various activities such as funding support and free clinics, relying on Shamian Church and Union Church (the church affiliated with Guangdong Union Theological Seminary).
