Guangdong Provincial CC&TSPM received a visit from a delegation from the Salvation Army Hong Kong.
The delegation consisted of Territorial Commander Colonel Philip Maxwell, Command President of Women’s Ministries Colonel Deslea Maxwell, General Secretary Major Minny Chan, Retired CEO Colonel Alfred Tsang, and China Development Department Administrative & Project Manager Heidi Chan, according to Guangdong CC&TSPM.
During the visit from July 11 to 13, Rev. Fan Hong'en, chairman of the Guangdong Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), introduced the development of churches and theological seminaries in the province, sharing about the practices of localization of Christianity in Guangdong and the rural medical clinics and poverty alleviation projects carried out by the Guangdong CC&TSPM over the years. He expressed the hope for carrying out reciprocal visits and strengthening exchanges in areas such as contextualized Christianity, Lingnan theological thought construction, healthy succession, and community service.
Colonel Philip expressed his recognition of the Guangdong churches' exploration of theological thought construction with Lingnan (south China) characteristics and practices in the sinicization of Christianity.
The delegation also visited local churches, including Guangdong Union Theological Seminary, Guangzhou CC&TSPM, and Guangzhou Luke Elderly Care Home. In the next step, both parties will conduct exchanges and cooperate in areas such as youth interaction and collaborative ministries.
