The United Bible Societies China Partnership (UBS CP) paid visits to CCC&TSPM and Shanghai CC&TSPM. Visitors discussed church development, Bible translation, and distribution efforts in the post-pandemic era with the preceding one.
Mr. Bernard Low and Mr. Daniel Loh, directors of UBS CP, on July 31 were received by and had discussions with Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairman of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), and Rev. Wu Wei, president of the China Christian Council (CCC), reported CCC&TSPM.
Rev. Xu stated that the two sides have maintained a ten-year friendship, which witnessed the development of Nanjing Amity Printing Company from its establishment to becoming one of the largest Bible printing factories in the world. Xu mentioned that CCC&TSPM had been dedicated to developing varieties of the Bible suitable for young believers and promoting Bible reading through many activities.
Rev. Wu Wei said that in the face of misunderstandings about the Chinese church from many overseas churches, UBS had facilitated visits of many overseas church leaders to China, which helped them understand the Church in China.
Mr. Bernard Low expressed his anticipation for the second visit of Rev. Dirk Gevers, the new general secretary of UBS, to China for deeper and more comprehensive cooperation.
On August 1st, four members of the delegation visited Shanghai CC&TSPM. Mr. Low introduced a variety of ministry projects of the UBS, with a focus on building bridges between Chinese and overseas churches.
Rev. Xu Yulan, chairman of Shanghai TSPM, expressed her hope for further cooperation in pastoral theology courses in the future.
