The first session of a sacred music training course commenced at a church in Guangzhou, situated on the southeastern coast of China in Guangdong Province.
According to the Guangzhou Municipal Christian Council (CC), the Guangzhou Christian Council invited qualified sacred music instructors to provide training on August 12 at Zion Church. The curriculum includes music theory, church festivals, and sacred music liturgy. A total of nearly 390 choir members from various churches across the city participated in this training.
In the morning, Rev. Lin Bingsheng, president of the Guangzhou CC, delivered the opening remarks under the theme of "Serving the Lord with Reverence and Devoutness."
Following that, music skill trainers conducted separate classes for students in sight-reading and pitch accuracy training, as well as rhythm and choral exercises. The training encompassed musical skill development and theoretical knowledge.
Furthermore, the training program featured a course on "Church Calendar and Festivals," during which Rev. Zhang Chengtao, vice president of the Guangzhou CC and director of Guangxiao Church, explained traditional church calendars and liturgy during festivals.
This sacred music training program consisted of two phases, aiming to cultivate a pool of talented individuals in Guangzhou's churches who can interpret Christian faith through the sinicization of sacred music compositions.
