The sinicization of Christianity month was launched with a concert in Guangdong in commemoration of the 73rd anniversary of the initiation of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM) in China.
Held by Bao'an District Christian Council at Bao’an Church in Shenzhen on September 23, this event was attended by pastoral leaders and staff from the provincial and municipal CC&TSPMs, as well as choir members of eight churches (or gathering sites) and two band members, according to Guangdong CC&TSPM.
Among the 600 participants, 450 were involved in the musical performances and singing.
This concert is a commencement ceremony for activities promoting the “sinicization of Christianity” in Bao’an District.
During this music meeting, there were joint performances by the choirs from eight local churches (or meeting points) in the district. The musical selection primarily consisted of Christian music pieces that incorporated elements of traditional Chinese music, showcasing the style of traditional Chinese music through choral performances and accompaniment by traditional instruments. This presentation aimed to highlight the sinicization of sacred music with a blend of Chinese cultural elements.
