Representing the China Christian Council (CCC), President Rev. Wu Wei participated in the United Bible Societies World Assembly 2023 in the Netherlands and visited a theological seminary in Europe.
At the invitation of the United Bible Societies (UBS) and Netherlands Bible Society, Pastor Wu joined the assembly hosted in Egmond aan Zee from October 12 to 18, reported CCC&TSPM.
On October 13, there were 420 representatives from 148 countries and regions attending the opening of the 10th World Assembly of UBS.
During the conference, Rev. Wu Wei not only discussed with staff workers of the UBS but also engaged in exchanges with heads of the Bible Society of the Netherlands, France, Malaysia, India, Thailand, and Pakistan.
Additionally, Rev. Wu also communicated with Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, the ninth general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC). Rev. Pillay expressed his interest in the development of the churches in China and his desire to visit China.
Due to COVID-19, the Chinese Christian community hasn’t visited churches and seminaries in Europe. Therefore, Wu extended his tour to Tyndale Theological Seminary in the Netherlands and introduced the history, present status, characteristics, and current challenges of the Church in China to the faculty and students of the seminary.
