In response to the church's initiative, the youth and middle-aged fellowship of a church in Fujian carried out the annual 'Santa Claus Action' to provide warmth and care to the needy.
During December, the 15 cell groups in the youth and middle-aged fellowship of the Gospel Church in Yongan City donated over 26,000 yuan and visited the needy elderly in 134 families.
Each group raised and collected donations to purchase daily necessities or to provide financial assistance for those in need. The targets can be residents in need in urban communities, poor people in rural areas, or people with disabilities and illnesses. Since 2017, this event has been conducted for seven consecutive years.
Some groups worked alone, while others collaborated with two or three other groups.
On December 17, the Canaan cell group visited nine Christian homes under the direction of a 95-year-old female believer.
The group focused on supporting one family: a male believer, Lin Qibing (77 years old), and a female believer, Wu Renxi. Lin is frail, sick, and cannot walk very smoothly, with his eldest son passing away due to illness years ago. His younger son, Lin Zhaofu, is lame with a disabled right foot and once served in the Lily Choir. Worse, his wife left home. The group contributed 1,620 yuan in financial assistance.
