Recently, Fujian churches disbursed scholarships and clothing to students in Xinjiang and its remote ethnic minority pastoral areas.
On September 11, Fu Xiuguo, commander of the Ningde branch in Fujian-Xinjiang Paired Assistance and deputy committee secretary in Hutubi County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, gave the Pingnan County CC&TSPM in Ningde, Fujian Province, a plaque with the inscription "Sponsoring Education, Caring for Xinjiang," as reported by Pingnan County CC&TSPM.
The county CC&TSPM extended financial support of 1000 yuan and provided 300 sets of new clothes for each of the 30 students who were excellent in both virtue and study but faced challenging family circumstances. These students hail from the Fourth Primary School and Ningde Primary School in Hutubi County, as well as the remote pastoral regions inhabited by ethnic minorities.
(Note: China's "pairing assistance" initiative refers to the fact that the country's coastal provinces are paired up” with cities and counties in Xinjiang to support the region's development with resources and investments.)
