Jiangsu and Shandong churches held calligraphy writing activities, presenting couplets for the upcoming Lunar New Year 2024.
Recently, Rongxiang Church in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, organized a calligraphy event to send out spring couplets, said the Binhu District United Front Work Department.
At the event, a calligraphy group composed of church pastors, volunteers, and believers wrote over 400 pairs of Spring Festival couplets and more than 200 square-shaped Chinese Fu characters, which meant blessing. The content of the couplets revolved around themes such as patriotism, filial piety, and diligence over laziness.
An Xiaozhu, a believer serving as the calligrapher for this event, created long-shaped couplets based on each attendee's name, earning the affection of the residents.
Cao County CC&TSPM in Heze City, Shandong Province, organized a handwriting activity on January 18, specially inviting five calligraphers from the Chinese Calligraphers Association and Cao County Calligraphy Association, reported Caoxian Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM).
The participants, including several believers who are lovers of calligraphy, created calligraphic pieces during the event.
Rev. Yin Qizhao, director and president of Cao County CC&TSPM, stated that in the next step, they would organize an exhibition of calligraphy and painting and deliver the Chinese New Year couplets to households.
