Invited by the Anglican Diocese of Singapore, Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairman of the national TSPM, attended the installation service of Bishop Titus Chung Khiam Boon as the Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia (hereinafter referred to "the Province").
During the enthronement service held at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Singapore on January 23, Bishop Titus Chung, in his sermon, expressed that being the Archbishop of the Province signifies greater responsibility, said CCC&TSPM. He pledged to promote the development of varied ministries and emphasized that, in the turbulent international situation, the church should play a role in promoting world peace.
As the 10th Bishop of Singapore, Titus Chung was installed as the seventh Archbishop of the Church of the Province of Southeast Asia during the ceremony.
During the Thanksgiving dinner, Bishop Dr. Titus Chung expressed special thanks to Reverend Xu, who sent congratulations and a gift to him.
Xu also interacted with bishops from Africa and Southeast Asia and leaders of churches and theological institutions in Singapore. He introduced the current situation of the church in China and the sinicization of Christianity, expressing a desire to strengthen communication and cooperation with them in the future.
Over 900 people attended the ceremony, including former Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam, current ministers, Anglican leaders from around the world, and leaders of diverse religions, with tens of thousands of people watching the ceremony online. Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam attended the Thanksgiving dinner after the service.
