The research center of Y.T. Wu, or Wu Yao-Tsung, one of the founders of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), was inaugurated in Guangzhou.
On May 18, 110 people, including officials and staff workers from seminaries and registered church leaders from Guangdong, attended the ceremony, said China's State Administration for Religious Affairs.
In the center, experts and scholars from the political, religious, and academic fields nationwide who specialize in Christian studies are appointed as directors, advisors, and researchers. They uncover and organize the life and deeds of Wu, and extract his theological thoughts about the sinicization of Christianity. This initiative brings valuable experience and inspiration for theological innovation and the current research on sinicized Christianity in China.
Mr. Wu, with his ancestral home in Shunde, was an educator, patriot, and religious leader in modern Chinese history, who played a significant role in the establishment of TSPM in China.
