A church in Liaoning Province hosted a praise and worship service to celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on September 17.
During the praise meeting at Yingkou Church, Rev. Hou Yujie, president of Liaoning CC, chairman and president of Yingkou CC&TSPM, led more than 20 clergy and young staff workers in praising on September 15, with 22 hymns composed by Hou for this meeting.
When the female pastor Hou called the newcomers to the front of the church, the hymn “The Gift of Knowing You” sounded around the sanctuary. Accompanied by rhythmic applause, 15 seekers walked to the altar to make the prayer for confession led by Hou under the cross, receiving Bibles from the church.
At the same time, every participant received five mooncakes.
During the praise meeting, a four-minute documentary was shown on the large screen, which recorded how church members worked together to make mooncakes, from purchasing the ingredients to baking the dough. It turns out that a sister in Christ surnamed Xiao donated two electric ovens and also personally taught the technique of making mooncakes. The church selected quality raw materials and produced the cakes with high sanitary standards. To express gratitude to those who participated in making mooncakes, Hou invited them to the altar to receive applause from the congregants. The mooncakes were also distributed to some other churches in Yingkou.
At the end of the service which lasted for more than two hours, Hou also made an appointment to make dumplings and glutinous rice balls for the coming Spring Festival and Lantern Festival.
