A centennial township church in Fujian, a southeastern Chinese province, held a dedication ceremony for its new construction.
The Christian community in Jianyang District, Fujian Province, celebrated the inauguration of Masha Church’s new building on October 3.
Masha Township, located west of Jianyang District in Nanping City, Fujian Province, is a historic town with a rich cultural heritage. Christianity was introduced to Jianyang in 1890 during the late Qing Dynasty and experienced continuous growth in the early years of the Republic of China. During this time, Masha and nearby townships saw the construction of churches, the organization of Christian activities, and the founding of schools.
Rev. Chen Meiman, vice president of Fujian Provincial TSPM, delivered a sermon titled "The Glorious Church." Since its founding, Masha Church has received support from government departments at different levels, neighboring churches, and contributions from the congregation. The foundation for the new building was laid in September 2021, with construction beginning in April 2022 and completed by July 2023. In just over a year, the church was completed and has since become a new landmark in the town.
