Wuxi municipal CC&TSPM in Jiangsu Province held a Shakespeare literature lecture, fostering the integration and development of literature and religious culture.
On October 8, Wuxi CC&TSPM organized the lecture themed “Paradise, Paradise Lost, Paradise Regained: Shakespeare's Human World” at the Wuxi Church’s auxiliary hall, with Mr. Wu Yuesu, a professor and a doctor of literature from the School of Humanities at Jiangnan University, as the featured speaker, reported CCC&TSPM. The session was attended by over 120 pastoral staff from across the city.
In his lecture, Professor Wu Yuesu not only provided an in-depth interpretation of the literary value of Shakespeare's works but also integrated religious and philosophical thought. He further explored the complexity and diversity of the human world depicted in Shakespeare's works across different periods through three symbolic chapters, "Paradise", "Paradise Lost" and "Paradise Regained", with an introduction of the main content and characteristics of three representative works: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, and The Tempest.
