Trinity Church on Gulangyu Island, Xiamen City, Fujian Province, held a ceremony to celebrate the 90th anniversary of its construction.
On October 26, Trinity Church held a thanksgiving service. Pastor Huang Weiquan of the Xianyue Meeting Point, formerly known as Renai, presided over the ceremony.
"Due to God's love, we eatablished a church here in the name of the Lord 90 years ago, becoming members of the Holy Church of Jesus Christ. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to dedicate ourselves to the Lord's service, with all glory attributed to the Triune God."
Then, the congregation stood and sang Amoy Hymn 083, "The Church’s One Foundation."
The youth choir and praise group from the hosting church, along with the Joshua Choir and the Enoch Choir from the Xianyue Meeting Point, performed hymns of praise to express their gratitude to God.
Rev. Huang Simin delivered a sermon titled "Relying on the Lord's Grace to Keep Moving Forward," in which he urged the congregation to strive to be instruments of the Lord, to grow in unity, and to be a blessing to both the church and fellow believers.
Following the sermon, Rev. Chen Yiping provided an overview of the church’s history, honoring the predecessors’ contributions.
A century ago, over 100 believers from Xinjie Church, Zhushu Church, and Xiagang Church in Xiamen relocated to Gulangyu Island. They found it challenging to cross the sea to Xiamen Island for worship during the cold winters, rainy weather, and typhoons. In response, they jointly established a church on Gulangyu Island, naming it "Trinity Church" to signify the unity of the Holy Father, the Holy Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Construction of Trinity Church started in 1934, with the main structure completed by 1936.
